Houseboating holidays have become a popular past time for both the young and old, especially attracted by the excitement of living on rivers and lakes and enjoying its green banks. Recently, housboating rental companies have tried to add a lot of incentives to this boating holiday to make visitors feel like they are in an home from home environment. Some boats now even have satelite tv.

Booking a houseboat can be for a day, two weeks or a month as your plans require. Ther are several companies offering visitors the ability to rent their boats and explore rivers, seeing lakes in all their beauty. For nature lovers and environmental enthusiasts, this is a great opportunity to combine a holiday with learning new habitates.

Your houseboating adventure is similar to ordinary camping. For example, you need to take enough supplies excluding bedding as the houseboats are equipped with beds and sitting room furniture similar to everyday household living conditions. You will, of course, need to take along food and drink. Most boat hirers include fishing rods to do some fishing; sometimes water skis and a dinghy.

When booking a houseboat vacation, you will have to know about the high and low seasons. During the high season, expect to pay as much as $1,500 to $3,000 a week depending on facilities available. A low season price can be between $800 to $1500 depending on facilities. These are general figures and can vary from state to state.

Spend some time on research and find out from the boating company which routes the craft will travel. If you intend to go on environmental holiday, you will need rivers with a lot of wild life, scenery and game. If you intend to do fishing, you will need a river with plenty of fresh water fish. Although you will be able to buy food locally, take some with you as well. Local stores will relieve you of the hassle of carrying food all the way to the river.

Holidays on a Houseboat is one great adventure you will love. Rivers, lakes and waterfronts all help to create a natural, peaceful atmosphere letting you forget urban neighborhoods, at least for a short time!
